Titans line up on second down.
On Friday Oct. 10, the Alexandria City Titans faced the West Potomac Wolverines in their sixth game of the season. Coming out strong with a 5-0 record, the game ultimately ended in a Titans loss by a mere point, 20-21. The loss was due to a missed extra point, now putting their record at 5-1.
Key plays included a 51-yard run by quarterback Alpha Jalloh, a 16-yard carry by running back Angelo Duarte and a touchdown by Jalloh with a 3-yard run into the endzone. Defensively, the Titans made several tackles for losses over the course of the night. All these plays and more contributed to the tight, captivating game.

As the game began, the student section was buzzing with excitement and love for the pink out theme, which was in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
“I really like pink out. With blackout, it’s all the same shade and kind of boring but with pink out, there are so many different shades and things to wear,” says junior Brooklyn Terbruggenan.
With energy high, Titan students collectively noticed the unity of the team this successful season.
“I think they seem a lot more connected,” said junior Ruby Gerstein. “I feel like they’re playing a lot better than last year, and they’re doing really well.”
Looking back on the game, quarterback Alpha Jalloh hopes to learn from this loss and come back stronger next week.
“The step we’re going to take next is go to practice, go to the film room, go to the board, draw it up, practice it, and get ready for next week,” said Jalloh.
The team is working as one to continue their impressive record in comparison to last year.

“I feel like we’re stronger as a team, we’re together, we’re playing more with each other and we’re just doing what Titan football does,” said Jalloh.
Despite the heartbreaking loss, Jalloh still has the same expectations he did coming into this season: “To win and win it all.”
