Alexandria City High School senior Preston Goodin received one of two Best Actor awards at the district One-Act competition. Senior Carrie Sample was also nominated for the Best Actor award. The play both were part of, The Couch, by T.C. Williams alum Araceli Penoso, won the school-wide one acts competition before moving onto districts. It was directed by seniors Gillian Krupicka and Deven Sawkar. The competition took place on January 29.

Goodin was nominated for the Best Actor award twice in early 2020, when he was a sophomore, for his role in The Brick Joke (written by Hope Bachman and directed by Araceli Penoso and Cori Raack).

“It was really nice to finally have that moment come full circle,” said Goodin. “It felt really good and everybody there was very supportive and I’m very thankful for everyone coming out and showing support. It also made me happy to see Carrie get nominated, because she really deserved that as well.”
