At ACHS, McDonald’s is one of the most popular places to go to before school. Many students go there before heading to class. From coffee to McGriddles to Big Breakfasts, McDonald’s has everything you need in the morning.
McDonald’s Big Breakfast + Hotcakes 9/10
Starting with the McDonald’s Big Breakfast, which includes a biscuit, a sausage patty, scrambled eggs, and three pancakes or “hotcakes” as McDonald’s calls them. Let’s start with the biscuit which might be dryer than popeyes. Then we move on to the sausage and the hotcakes which are McDelicious. Finally we have the scrambled eggs, which taste awkward. Fast food eggs are always off putting to me, so maybe it is just me.

Next up we have a Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel meal, which comes with not just the sandwich, but also a hash brown and a drink. The sandwich tastes a little off. I am not sure if it’s the low quality steak or the onions, but something about it tastes synthetic. The hashbrowns, however, are delicious and crispy with an awesome amount of salt. McDonald’s is known for their fries, but I would argue their other form of potato is slightly better.

Afterwards I tried the Sausage, Egg & Cheese McGriddle. For those who don’t know, a “McGriddle” is a maple flavored pancake. A sausage and egg mcgriddle, is a sausage patty, cheese, and eggs between those two. While most would call that combination insane, I am not like most. The combination of the sweetness from the McGriddle, and the savory notes of the sausage and eggs is perfect.

Next, I tried the Sausage, Egg and Cheese Bagel breakfast sandwich which is a combination of the last two. It is one of the better menu items in all of McDonald’s in my opinion. Unlike the very low quality steak on the steak and cheese bagel, the sausage patties could be switched out with the one on a five star breakfast and you would not notice.

Lastly, let’s look at the McCafe menu. From students to teachers, many at ACHS start their day with a cup of coffee. While many head to Starbucks, some go to McDonald’s to start their day. From frappuccinos to plain black to macchiatos, McDonald’s has a wide variety of items for people to start their days with. My personal favorite is the Caramel Frappuccino. While it is more sugar than coffee, that might just be the best part. It basically tastes like a sweet sundae while giving you the benefits of coffee. On the other hand though, it is 670 calories so if you are trying to lose some weight, this might not be for you.

Those were some of my favorite menu items on the breakfast menu at McDonald’s. While yes, McDonald’s isn’t exactly part of a healthy diet, it does have some great menu items and I would definitely recommend going there for breakfast.
