On Monday, Dec. 2, students were recognized with a ceremony for their efforts in qualifying for scholarships and awards.
The event celebrated students whose scores lie within the 96th percentile on the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) recognized as Commended Students, as well as those with scores in the 99th percentile of their state as named National Merit Semifinalists.
Students were awarded a National Recognition Award from the College Board due to their ethnicity, score on the NMSQT, Advanced Placement exam results and grade point average were also acknowledged. The College Board National Recognition Program grants awards to those who identify as Latino, Hispanic, Black, African American, Native, Indigenous or attend high school in a rural area.
Finalists for the Posse Scholarship, which provides a full-tuition leadership-based scholarship, were also recognized. Additionally, students who earned Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarships, awarded based on academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to military service, were honored for their achievements.
