The Alexandria City High School gymnastics team is gearing up for their 2024-2025 season following last year’s season of progress.
“The gymnasts worked hard and had a good season [last year],” said Head Coach PJ Novgrod. “The gymnasts learned new skills and refined their routines as the season progressed. This led to increasing our team score continually during the year.”
“Last season was my first year on the team,” said junior Piper Maccubbin. “It was so fun to meet everyone and learn new things.”
Maccubin and Novgrod said they have high hopes to replicate their past success.
“I feel very good about the team this year,” Novgorod said. “The gymnasts will work to learn more new skills to increase the difficulty in their routines which will increase their scores. Increasing their scores will result in a higher team score.”
“The team works very hard to live up to their best potential which should in turn make for a successful season,” Novgorod added.
Maccubin said the team puts in the work at every practice.
“The strength of this team is the work ethic and their enjoyment of gymnastics,” she said. “I am ready to continue improving my skills and to get a floor routine.”
As for personal aspirations, Maccubin has those too.
“I am excited about senior night and competing on the beam for the first time,” she said.
With new recruits, great coaching and hard working gymnasts, the Titans gymnastics team is something to look out for this upcoming season.
