With the Alexandria mayoral and city council elections coming up in November, candidates are attempting to secure their voter base. As always, education and the schools are a contentious topic, so candidates have to make sure that they win over parents and teachers. Because of this, Alexandria City High School hosted a meet and greet with mayoral and city council candidates on May 7th, where parents were able to inquire about potential education policies. The city council candidates that were present were Canek Aguirre, Sarah Bagley, John Chapman, Abdel El Noubi, Jacinta Greene, Kevin Harris, Jonathan Huskey, James Lewis, Kirk McPike, and Jesse O’Connell. The mayoral candidates that were present were Amy Jackson and Alyia Gaskins (represented by her team). At the event, which was organized by the Alexandria PTA, everything from school capacity to funding was discussed. Theogony was able to take some photos of candidates and constituents alike.
