On Sunday Dec. 14, the Friends of ROAM (Rock of Ages Music) hosted their annual holiday show and fundraiser in the No. 9 Lounge above Evening Star in Del Ray.
Friends of ROAM is a nonprofit organization that aims to make music education accessible for youth through scholarships for the ROAM school located in Del Ray. It hosts public events such as the holiday show with optional donations that go to the ROAM school, scholarships, and summer programs.
Throughout their multitude of programs, performances and community involvement, ROAM is a pillar of social life and local artistry in Del Ray where students can explore their love for music and performing.
The show featured local artists and bands including Redwood, Gabe & Brian Siebenlist, Elizabeth Lane, The Back-Up Band, Schmidt’s Creek, Maddie Cantrell, Eliza Gwin and instructors from ROAM.
All performers played covers of Christmas hits for the Del Ray community, fostering a joyful and communal launch into the holiday season.
Not only is this show an opportunity to showcase talent, but it is also a time for the Friends of ROAM to raise money to make music education accessible to youth. Patrons have the option to donate either at the door or online.
Though Friends of ROAM has held several shows in the No. 9 Lounge this year, this one was especially festive with attendees dancing, singing and playing pool as the musicians performed. The non-profit raised 4000 dollars in donations by the end of the night, exceeding their fundraising goal.
Entering the new year, ROAM will make many more appearances. The first 2026 performance will be in January at Pearl Street Warehouse, continuing a successful youth music program.
