On April 29, Nettspend’s “Early Life Crisis” tour finally made its way to the DMV, stopping at The Fillmore in SIlver Spring, MD. The concert marks the 15th out of 31 stops of this tour, making for his third tour across North America. Nettspend played 25 songs in Silver Spring, and expectedly and unfortunately, did not play any new snippets (unreleased tracks), and did not bring out a special guest. Nonetheless, this show was a phenomenal experience and has me sure that I will never go to a show better than this one.

The concert was about 40 minutes away from my home in Alexandria, and happened to fall on an unpleasantly rainy day in Maryland. Upon arriving at the venue, I could tell it would be packed, with a line stretching almost 2 blocks that took about an hour to finally make it to the front. Once inside the almost full venue floor, we were left to wait standing for an hour and a half. The show was supposed to start at 8:00 p.m., but was pushed back to 9:30 p.m. to account for Nettspend’s tardiness, which is a common occurrence among underground rap concerts. The long wait before Nettspend’s arrival was the only lowlight of the show, but once the intro music started playing, my impatience and boredom vanished.
The show opened beautifully with “you ready?,” a favorite of mine, having the crowd in a frenzy instantly. This energy was constant throughout the whole concert, only dying down for a few songs. The peak of the show was when “who tf is u” was played. The energy of the crowd during this song was unmatched by any other moment from this concert.
The show went on for around another hour after that, with Nettspend concluding the show with “lil bieber,” and a surprise encore with the song “stressed.” After that, the lights turned back on, and we were ushered out of the venue at 11:00 p.m.
After over a week’s worth of consideration, this was a 10/10 concert. The sound quality, lighting, the crowd, and venue made for an extremely fun night. For as hectic as the crowd was, we were also a wholesome bunch, checking on each other after moments with frequent bumping into each other. For anyone thinking of ever going to a Nettspend show, don’t pass it up, you’ll have a great time.
