Since Virginia’s establishment as a state back in 1788, the Dogwood flower has been a symbol that has been beloved by the residents throughout the years. The Dogwood, originally native to Virginia, is present in botanic gardens as well as natural habitats, drawing the attention of many tourists. Apart from its stunning appearance, this tree holds significant cultural value, representing purity and new beginnings. The symbolic importance of the American Dogwood was deeply appreciated by notable figures such as Thomas Jefferson, who used the tree as the basis for the design of his gardens at Monticello.
