The Sweet Side Coffee and Creamery officially opened its doors on Oct. 11, 2025, celebrating the grand opening with a ribbon-cutting event. This cozy new neighborhood café is operated by the same team behind Northside 10, another Alexandria-based restaurant. Located at 2 E. Glebe Rd., Alexandria, Va. 22305, The Sweet Side Coffee and Creamery has quickly become a warm and welcoming addition to the Del Ray community.

The owners shared their excitement on social media, posting on Instagram about their dream of “opening an ice cream and coffee shop for the neighborhood,” and how thrilled they were to “serve our community in a new way.” The message resonated deeply with locals, many of whom expressed their delight in the comments. The café offers extended hours, operating Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. This makes it an easy stop for early risers and late-night dessert lovers.

Although the Sweet Side Cafe & Creamery has distinguished itself in the local market by providing handmade ice cream, their menu also features a variety of freshly-brewed coffees, breakfast items, lunch food and house-made pastries. Among their best-sellers, the Sweet Side Double Fudge Brownie and Cold Brew Coffee have quickly become customer favorites. The café’s focus on high-quality ingredients, affordable pricing, and friendly service has earned it a loyal following in just a short time. Most reviews so far are positive and customers seem to like the new shop. 

Historically, new businesses in the area often face a challenging initial period as they build a customer base and reputation. However, The Sweet Side Cafe & Creamery has not seemed to have had many problems generating business, and is a great addition to the Alexandria community.
