Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22 and marks the anniversary of the beginning of the modern environmental movement in 1970 promoting a national standard of cleanliness. This year, Earth Day recognizes the devastating effects of climate change, especially human-induced impacts on the environment. The rising global temperatures, sea levels, and carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere are all effects of climate change. But Earth Day also acknowledges the changes people implement in their life to protect the environment. This year, students were asked what they do every day to protect the environment.

On March 7, 2022, Lionel Richie won the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The Gershwin Prize for Popular Song acknowledges songwriters that have spent their life dedicated to their craft and celebrates songwriters' achievements in music. This award is truly a milestone artists can only dream of achieving. The previous winners include Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Willie Nelson, and Carole King. This year, the Library of Congress awarded Lionel Richie the award to commemorate the accomplishments in his lifetime.

Del Ray: The Muffin Saga

As muffin consumers, we pride ourselves on understanding the ins and outs of muffinery. Each place we visited was rated on a scale from 1 to 10 in three different categories, the highest ranking being a 30 and the lowest a 0. Texture, taste, and density were the three categories under evaluation. Though we went for muffins, the atmosphere and pricing were also part of our concern about the perfect Del Ray muffin. 

Sophomores Transition to Alexandria City High School Campus

With nearly four weeks of school complete, students are beginning to get into a comfortable rhythm of balancing classes and everyday school hassle. But it was not always that way. After an entire school year of zoom calls and loads of seemingly endless virtual activities, the majority of us find ourselves back in the building. But for the sophomores, the transition to the Alexandria City High School campus seemed more nerve-racking than ever.
