Orchestra Snags Superior On Hottest Day of the Year

Saturday, May 21st may have been one of the hottest days of the year a 97 degrees, but the ACHS Orchestra was even hotter!  They swept all prizes at Kings Dominion’s “Music In the Parks'' festival. They won 1st place with a superior rating. They received “Best Overall Orchestra,” and the acclaimed Esprit De Corps award. This award is given to students who demonstrate superior behavior and for demonstrating good sportsmanship throughout the competition.

On March 18 and 19, ACHS choir was judged on their tone, diction, dynamics, and more. On a scale of one to five, they received the best score in every category and later accepted their well-earned award. They were competing against other high school areas, such as Fairfax, Falls Church, and more, the 77 combined student choir won a one in each category, showing off their talents.

Fantasy and Fiction: A Review of “The Selection”

On April 14, 2012, The Selection by Kiera Cass was released for the public to read. Later becoming a New York Times Best Seller, it is a five-book series packed with heartbreak, romance, drama, and royalty. Set in Illéa, a fictional country, the crowned prince, Maxon Schreave, holds a competition in which there can only be one winner. The competition involves 35 girls coming to the palace to compete in a The Bachelor-esque style competition.
