The End of Titan Lunch Has Come

In a letter sent on Parentsquare yesterday evening, ACHS Executive Principal Peter Balas announced that Titan Lunch will not be taking place this school year. This comes after sources confirmed Thursday that the extended lunch period’s implementation had been postponed from its planned January 24 start date due to Central Office not approving the plan.

In 2019, the former ACPS School Board approved Superintendent Dr. Gregory Hutchings to form what is called the High School Project, better known as The Connected High School Network. This program was designed to further integrate students at the Chance For Change, Satellite, Minnie Howard, and King Street campuses of Alexandria City High School as one whole high school in Alexandria. The recent developments of creating a more structured and versatile campus-based high school reflects the concerns of overcrowding in the King Street campus and lack of flexibility to a high school education.

Alexandria City High School Principal Peter Balas retweeted a video posted by the International Academy of Alexandria City High School (IA) in early November 2021. The video showed a group of students engaging in a sporting activity that, on the surface, may look vaguely familiar. But for many, they could not seem to quite put their finger on it.
