The fall college admissions process is a very stressful time for students and parents. In an effort to make this process easier, the ACHS College and Career Center has been inviting colleges and universities to come and talk to our students about their establishments. These visits expose students to new colleges as well as give students opportunities to learn more about ones they’re already familiar with.
Seven Commended Students and one Semifinalist were recognized with a ceremony on October 1 for their exceptional scores in the PSAT 10/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), which they took last fall in their junior year along with students across the country.

The Alexandria schools are taking further steps to address ongoing equity issues, especially racial equity issues, said Superintendent Dr. Gregory Hutchings at what APCS called its “first annual State of the Schools address.” Dr. Hutchings delivered the address on March 1 from the ACHS auditorium, with some students and others in attendance.
Data analyzed by Theogony show that the national gender disparities between men and women in four-year college enrollment has had similar manifestations at Alexandria City High School since at least the 2016-2017 school year.
