Take a Look into Other Students’ Resolutions

Max Straub

New Year’s Resolutions are an important part of the New Year. Many people often take drastic approaches and set unrealistic goals which is part of the reason why they often do not go as planned. Some Titans wanted to share their goals for 2020.

Sophomore Amari Hangrove: “Learn how to make my own decisions”

Sophomore Will Rosenfeld: “To do better in school, study more, do more homework”

Senior Deondre Keeler: “Get all passing grades”

Senior Lul Cardo: “New Year, New Me, if you know you know”

Junior Vincent Mulrooney: “Getting better at Physics”

Sophomore Brandon Brown: “Stop procrastinating…Get binders and stay organized so I can be eligible for the football team”

Junior Mahlet Abu: “I want to be a better version of myself”

Junior Josh Peterson: “I want to be as healthy as possible for track….and get more sleep”

Physical Education teacher and Head Driver’s Education instructor Brett Eanes: “I want to join the gym across the street and I want to get back on track.”

Sophomore Henok Amanuel: “I want to get my money up and get a job”

Sophomore Mikel Smith: “I want to get my grades up.”

Many new year’s resolutions fail quite early into the year. Resolutions often fail because people rush into them and often take a “what” instead of “why” approach. A study by Richard Wiseman of Bristol England says that out of the 3000 people he surveyed, 88 percent failed at sticking with their resolutions.

If you are looking to fall into the 12 percent who do achieve their goals this New Years, here are some helpful tips below:

First, avoid using loose terms. If you are looking to lose weight hit your goals, let’s say “I want to lose one pound a week for five weeks.” Instead of saying “I want to lose weight fast”. You need to be realistic about the things you can do in a short amount of time.

Also it is often best to not try to quit things cold turkey, meaning drop the habit without easing out of it. This is often very hard to do and often requires multiple tries and has a very low success rate. Although it varies based on the things you are trying to stop doing.

Get out there Titans and try to change your life for the better; you got this!
