American rapper and songwriter OsamaSon dropped his fifth studio album “psykotic” on Friday, Oct. 10. The
anticipated release contains 17 tracks and amassed 5.2 million debut streams on Spotify. A successor to his January album “Jump Out,” “psykotic” marks OsamaSon’s second album and fourth music release this year.
OsamaSon’s career started in 2020, when he began releasing music as PradaUMari, though he eventually changed his stage name to OsamaSon in 2021. Since then, he’s built a large catalog of music, releasing 5 albums and many singles.
Overall, ‘pyskotic’ is a great album. OsamaSon kept the same sound from his earlier single, “Demon Home,” especially with the intro track “Habits.” OsamaSon’s flow and use of alternating between beats throughout the song is reminiscent of his earlier work while still staying fresh. As an intro song, it lives up to the album name, sounding enticingly demonic and hype.
OsamaSon didn’t keep the project to himself, featuring Che on the track “FMJ,” being the only feature on this album. Che, who dropped his album “Rest in Bass” in July, took on a more loud, bass, synth and autotune heavy style, similar to this album. Both OsamaSon’s and Che’s styles work on this song, making for a great collaboration, leaving me waiting to see what they will do together next.
I appreciate that this album wasn’t all just helter-skelter chaotic slop, including songs like “Worldwide,” a less intense and less evil-sounding song with an catchy upbeat feeling, in contrast to “Habits.” OsamaSon starts singing right away, which I feel lets the energy from the previous track continue. It also sounds like it isn’t bound to this album. It sounds to me like it would make sense if it was released on “Jump Out” or “Flex Musix” or as a single. I also like the beat switch near the end of the song, which keeps the song from being too repetitive.

The songs on the album alternate from these hectic, all over the place songs, like “Addicted,” to these more calm and chill songs, like “She woke Up”. Another one of these chaotic songs is “Maag Dump”. This song fits the name it’s given. There is a heavy usage of screams and gunfire to accompany the chaotic beat of the song. While not my favorite, the song scratches an itch at times. The energy carries on through “Maag Dump,” “T193,” “FMJ,” and “Inferno” taking a break with “She woke Up.”
While there are some definitive tunes, not every track is a standout. The songs “She woke Up,” “Function,” and “In It,” feel like rather boring filler tracks, not adding too much to the album, with “yea i kno” and “Whats Happening” being the next interesting tracks. “yea i kno” is an upbeat and dubiously cheer inducing song, this song skews away from the dark and anarchic sound of many other songs on this album in a similar way to “Worldwide”. It’s the eye of this noise storm of an album. It also adds diversity in the sound of most of these songs, which I think is a great quality for any type of music to have. “Whats Happening” is my personal favorite track on the album. I like that the song has so many sounds going, and yet they are all cohesive. I especially like the background sample that is at the beginning of the song, and again when the song loops.
The last track that I really like is “Guap Man.” The lyrics are primarily OsamaSon flexing his various expensive aspects of his lifestyle, the meat of this song is the beat. This beat by producer ok matches the aesthetic of this album, but is versatile in the same way “Worldwide” is. I also like the metallic clinking sound that plays every few seconds throughout the song. I think this one of ok’s best beats, and one of OsamaSon’s best songs of the year.
I think this project is a positive addition to OsamaSon’s discography. His sound has evolved from his previous projects, something I think is necessary to an artist’s success. Looking forward, I hope he continues to evolve and keep his sound unique, as he has been doing.
