“Primate” is a horror sci-fi movie that blends action, suspense and survival. The story follows a girl named Lucy, who is returning to her home in Hawaii after years of being away. She is accompanied by her long time friends Kate and Nick. Lucy finds out her family adopted a new pet, a chimpanzee named Ben who is very intelligent and was taught to speak through a tablet. But, things take a turn as Ben is bitten by a mongoose, giving him an urge to kill. Filled with twists and turns, the movie does a good job of keeping viewers on the edge of their seat from start to finish.
One of the best parts in the movie is the action. The chase scenes are exciting and keep the pace moving, especially when the primate escapes the lab. The special effects look realistic and help make the primate feel real. The music adds tension and makes the intense scenes more dramatic. However, the movie moves very quickly, and some scenes feel rushed, which can make the story a little too hard to follow at some times.
The acting in “Primate” is mostly solid. The actors do an amazing job portraying fear as the situation becomes more dangerous. The chimpanzee also shows a lot of emotion, which makes viewers feel sympathy for it instead of just fear. Some of the side characters do not get much development and don’t do much, so it’s hard to get fully invested in them.
Overall, “Primate” surprised me and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. One scene that stuck out was when Ben first started acting weird after getting bit by the mongoose. The whole scene was scary and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I also liked the part where the group was stuck by the pool and had to try and stay safe from Ben while he acted wild and out of control because it looked like they were going to be stuck there until Ben killed them. The movie was intense and it did a fantastic job keeping the pace on scary scenes going. It was fun and scary, with just the right amount of suspense. I didn’t expect it to have much horror, but left the movie pleasantly surprised.
