As the final weeks of the year approach, the calendar is full of events. Throughout late May and early June, seniors will have many opportunities to celebrate their final year at AC. Below is a detailed list of all the events seniors have to look forward to.

Students Honored for Hard Work in Titan P.R.I.D.E. Assembly

On March 1, five students from each learning academy were honored in the 2nd quarter titan pride assembly. Each academy chose students that exemplify at least one characteristic of the acronym P.R.I.D.E.: preparation, respect, integrity, determination, and excellence.

For the first time since 2019, ACHS will host a prom on Saturday, May 7. After two years of prom being canceled due to COVID-19, students are eager to attend the spring event.

Governor’s Health Sciences Academy and Guaranteed Admissions

In the 2018-2019 school year, a new program was introduced at ACHS called the Governor’s Health Sciences Academy (GHSA), a partnership between ACHS and the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (GW SMHS). Its goal is to “address the workforce shortage of qualified healthcare workers in Virginia and the wider US,” according to the ACPS website.

A few months ago, we wrote an article about a social media influencer named Paul Zimmer. He first got famous on Musica.ly (now TikTok) and then gained a following on Instagram and YouTube. He dropped all social media accounts after people started a hashtag #banpaulzimmer to ban him from Musica.ly because he was scamming his fans. He disappeared until fall of this year when he posted on Instagram claiming someone named Troy Becker, a 16-year-old actor, looked exactly like him.
