“Black Phone 2” is a scary and exciting movie, building on the bone-chilling story told in the first “Black Phone” movie. It is directed by Scott Derrickson and stars Mason Thames, Madeline Mcgraw and Ethan Hawke. The movie takes place a few years after the first film as Finney (the main character) and his sister Gwen are trying to move on after being terrorized by the Grabber– a child kidnapper and serial killer. However, when they arrive at Alpine Lake Camp, a Christian youth camp in Colorado, strange things start happening. As some of their fellow campers go missing and Gwen starts having nightmares, Finney realizes the Grabber’s spirit might not be gone after all.
Most of the movie takes place at the snowy camp where weird things continue to occur, like Gwen having visions of three boys who were previously murdered in the camp under a frozen lake. The setting feels quiet and creepy, which makes the jumpscares hit harder. The black phone–a device that allows Finney to communicate with the Grabber’s previous victims– shows up again, and Finney starts getting calls from ghosts who are trying to warn him about the Grabber coming back as a vengeful spirit. The movie mixes mystery and horror in a way that keeps viewers guessing on what’s real and what’s not. The actors, especially the kids, do a really good job in portraying terror while also trying to be brave. There are some jumpscares, but the movie also has sad and emotional parts that evoke empathy towards the characters.
I liked “Black Phone 2” because it had a good storyline and some really scary and spooky scenes. It wasn’t just about ghosts; it was about being brave and overcoming your fears. I liked it even more than the first film because it expands on the supernatural elements that I left the first movie wanting more of. Some parts were a little confusing, such as how the Grabber can attack people through their dreams, and I wished they explained more about how the phone works. But overall, it was fun to watch and it kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I think people who are into scary and mysterious movies would really enjoy this movie. “The Black Phone 2” was a really amazing movie, and I hope they release another sequel to the series in the future.
